I am gender and LGBTQ affirmative. Over the last few years, I have worked with gender non-conforming and transgender identified persons (and their families when appropriate). I am passionate about providing competent therapy as many have spoken to the frustration and discomfort of being misunderstood even by former therapists.
I view gender on a continuum. I believe the gender-variance within society is enriching. I am aware of the rigidity of gender roles and expectations, which often creates distress in the lives of gender non-conforming people. I am sensitive to the stress related symptoms that many gender variant persons and their families experience connected to society’s rejection of this non-conformity.
If you are experiencing distress connected to your gender identity / expression, I want to offer support. We will explore your concerns and their impact on your life and your relationships. My goal is to assist you in understanding yourself in a deeper way, which often leads to living a more authentic and congruent life. The way you decide to express your gender is your choice.
When appropriate, I provide referrals to psychiatrists, endocrinologists, and physicians who are transgender affirmative. I follow the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care.
